If I was in part of 'the School of Athens' I would be Pythagoras. Pythagoras was one of the famous Greek philosopher in the world who lived from B.C.E 569 ~ B.C.E 475. He invented some great ideas and proved lots of mathematical theorem. After he died, his disciples developed the Pythagorean theorem and spread it to many people. Therefore nowdays, most of us know Pythagoras and his theorem. There are some similarities between him and me. In the drawing, lots of people are surround Pythagroras, however he is just concentrating on the book. This is really same as me. I also really concentrate when I am doing work and that is really interesting to me. I also have lots of interested in mathematic. Therefore I have heard the name 'Pythargoras' from many people. So If I was in part of the drawing, I want to be Pythagoras.

The School of Athens

This art can be a mirror of society, because of the people in the drawing and backgound. In the drawing, people are wearing clothes what people usually wore in the Renaissance time. It also shows what they liked to wear in the Renaissance time and interests. There is a crowd of people who are looking at the Earth and disscussing about the universe. It means, the Renaissance people were interested in science and the universe. Architectures of the drawing are liked the Renaisaance time as well. I realised that the architectures are from the Renaissance time by arches. Arches were used by the Renaissance people and the arhces are round. By these evidence, the drawing ( The School of Athens) can be a mirror of society.

A Renaaisance Man?

The Renaissance was the period in Europe, especially Italy, in the 14th, 15th, 16th centuries, when there was a new interest in art, literature, science, and learnings. And thoses ideas were come from the ancient Greek and Rome. Leonardo Da Vinci was an artist in the Renaissance time. He drew Mona Lisa and human body. They still reputes in good ways by connoisseurs. But he also invented many things, such as his own water-powered alarm clock and flying machines. He design the flying machine, so there were trades between countries and cities. Therefore It helped Renassiance and got more money and be better. He was talented and knowledeable, so helped a lot towards a concept of "reborn" or "rebirth", Renaissance.

If the day comes
Sim Hun
If the day comes, if the day comes,
The mountain will dance lively.
And the river will boil up
If the day comes when I'm alive,
I'll peal the bell with my head with crows at night
I’ll happily die although my skull breaks into fragments, I will not have any resentment

If the day comes, oh if the day comes,
I'll weep, leap and roll over at the road
And my heart will burst with over flow of glee,
I'll peel my skin with a keen knife, and make a drum. I'll lead you and march with it.
If I heard that sonorous sound once,
I'll die peacefully.

'If the day comes' is a poem and it's written by Sim Hun. He wrote it when Korea was controlled by Japan and made as colony. At that time Japan soldiers tortured Korean people if Koreans did not follow what they wanted. Many Korean were patriots and they had lots of patriotism. So many people were participated in the independence movement because Koreans really wanted to protect the country and to be independent. So many poets who are patriots lived at that time wrote many poems that are something like "If the day comes." So like the people that had patriotism to the country, we have to have patriotism like them and need to not afraid anything when we protect the country.

Love

A special world for you and me

No one can disturb between you and me

Even a desert, a wind and a destiny

To bind us closer and keep us strong

Love, the strongest power in the world

Santiago was more advantageous and powerful after he met his love. He also didn't gave up even though that was tough and tricky, because of Fatima, his love. When he decided to stay with Fatima in the desert, Fatima persuaded him to keep traveling, and he listened to her, because he loved her very much, and he trusted Fatima. If they are in love, they cannot listen to others. There is conversation between them only. No one can disturb. That's the biggest power of love.

Blogpost1# My Journey

Sometimes life is tough and sometimes life is easy going. By these situations, I figured out that I’m thoughtful. I always try to think about the situation and what the best decision is. Thinking about it helps me to choose the right route. When I have to decide something, I usually think about it more than other people, even though it isn’t serious. I try to relate my situation to other people and describe what they would do in my head. If I was in the Alchemist, I think, I would be able to find my destiny, because during the traveling, observation and careful thought helps you to discover which way is better and helps you to achieve your destiny. Thoughtfulness aids me to act carefully at people and also when I say something, because I think, they would get hurts from me. Therefore It makes me to spend a good terms with my friends and helps to make a great relationship between my friends and me. If I were not thoughtful at all, I would have incidents and would have many mistakes. Also I wouldn’t success in my life.

Essay

A Pursuit of ‘Life’
“It is true life really is generous to those who pursue their destiny, the boy thought” (pg.160) In the Alchemist, Santiago was a shepherd boy who lived in Andalusia, Spain. Santiago’s parents wanted him to be a priest, but Santiago wanted to travel. Santiago had recurring dreams. But before he went to meet an old gypsy woman who interpreted his dream, he didn’t know and think anything about his destiny. Santiago met one of his mentors, Melchizedek and slowly understood about his destiny. Therefore Santiago started his journey to follow the destiny. In the novel, throughout his journey Santiago can be described as determined, a risk taker and a responsible person.
“I can always go back to being a shepherd, the boy thought. I learned how to care for sheep, and I haven’t forgotten how that’s done. But maybe I’ll never have another chance to get to the Pyramids in Egypt.” (pg.61) Santiago is really determined in every decision. Santiago was confused about the route that he was taking. He was worried if he was taking the right way. He wanted to stop the traveling and preferred to go back to Spain when he had earned enough money. He was also thinking that he could go back to Spain and be a shepherd again anytime he wanted. So he continued his journey. There was another time that he wanted to stop, because of Fatima. Fatima was a girl who fell in love with Santiago and Santiago thought Fatima was his destined girl at that time. He wanted to live with Fatima in the oasis, but Fatima persuaded him to keep going. So he never gave up and persevered until he found his destiny.
“What he had to be concerned about was his treasure, and how he was going to go about getting it.” (pg.110) Whenever Santiago found himself in a dilemma; he would choose the more adventurous route as opposed to a safe journey. This shows that Santiago is a risk taker. In the Alchemist, he was an adventurous shepherd boy. A shepherd needs to take care of flock and travel around with the flock. No one knows whether traveling is safe or dangerous. Also when he met Melchizedek, Santiago decided to go to the Pyramid in Egypt. That means Santiago would have to get out of the safe zone, which was familiar to him. Santiago had a curious mind and he was always thinking. He yearned to be free like the wind. Santiago wanted to explore and experience life. He was searching for his destiny. Destiny, which he never quite understood, but he knew that he had to keep wandering.
Santiago left Fatima with a promise that he would come back to her and that shows Santiago is responsible. Santiago fell in love with Fatima and he didn’t want to continue his journey. He just preferred to live with Fatima in the oasis. However, Fatima was a desert woman. She recognized that Santiago needed to keep traveling. Therefore, Santiago promised, he would come back. “I’m coming Fatima”(pg.161). In the end of Alchemist, the book shows, Santiago tried to go back to Fatima. It would be hard to go back, because he took lots of time to reach the oasis and he needed strength to travel a long distance again. But Santiago kept thinking his promise to Fatima. So come what may, he was going to fulfill that promise.
Each person has his/her destiny and Santiago achieved his destiny by sheer determination, an adventurous spirit and being responsible. Santiago traveled to the Pyramids in Egypt and that shows he is a risk-taker, because he got out from a familiar surrounding. Santiago was always challenging himself. Throughout Santiago’s journey no matters how difficult of treacherous his journey seemed, Santiago never gave up and he always kept going. Even when he fell in love during his travels, he didn’t stop. Instead he promised his love, Fatima, that he would be back for her when he completes his journey. So in conclusion, if Santiago had not possessed these characteristics, he would not be able to seek his destiny. Santiago found love, joy and an adventurous. It is true life really is generous to those who pursue their destiny.
